Around the 15th century, this area was home to a castle under the control of the Murakami Suigun (pirate warlords of the Seto Inland Sea) which was said to keep a watch on boats traveling through the major maritime traffic spot known as the Kaminoseki Channel. When the early blooming kawazu zakura flowers are perfect for viewing, this area is bustling with tourists.
