Yanai City and its surrounding sea area is famous for its plentiful supply of large sea breams. Particularly in the Obatake Seto Strait (a channel running between Yanai City’s Obatake and Suo-Oshima), there is a plentiful supply of sea breams with firm meat due to the fast currents there.
There are many delicious sea bream dishes, and sea bream sushi made in Obatake is especially popular. It is available at the Obatake Tourist Center at the foot of the Oshima Ohashi Bridge.
