The current in the Obatake Seto Strait (a channel running between Yanai City’s Obatake and Suo-Oshima) is so intense, it is counted among the three most intense currents in Japan. The setogai mussels kneaded by these turbulent waters are amazingly delicious. They are incredible whether they are grilled on their own or cooked in rice or miso soup.
